Hello and welcome to our blog. We're still getting Bay City After 6 up and running, so we're not 100% sure how we're going to use the blog just yet. For now, it's going to be another place where you can find information about upcoming events and volunteering activities. We'll probably also post some photos and reviews of past events.
If you have any ideas or suggestions for the blog, please don't hesitate to speak up. We'd love to hear your ideas.

ReplyDeleteI think you should use this blog as an opportunity for exploring issues surrounding young(ish) professionals in Bay City. That may mean writing it yourself or having guest bloggers - or even fleshing out ideas that come up at BCA6 events.
For instance, we hear a lot of our local leaders complain that our young people leave the community. But if you are young, it's really hard to find a good job around here. You can do it, but it's hard. In fact, I lot of the people I met at BCA6 were young entrepreneurs. So there's a topic for you - Why all the young people are leaving and what we can do about it. It may seem obvious, but you really don't see a lot of the >40 crowd being heard on the issue.
There's also the issue of a lot of our civic organizations not doing an adequate job of bringing Gen Xers and Millennials into the fold. What happens to those groups when the Boomers retire and move to Florida?
I think you can get the jist.
I've been blogging for a while now (in fact I even wrote about BCA6 a couple weeks ago) and would be more than happy to brainstorm with you two, if you're interested in developing this blog beyond "announcements" (although you SHOULD include announcements, too). There are a lot of people like us in Bay City. You could have a big impact.
